What are the functions of seismic bracing supports?

Category: Company News

Seismic supports and hangers provide reliable protection for building mechanical and electrical engineering facilities during earthquakes, effectively withstanding seismic forces from any horizontal direction. All prefabricated supports and hangers shall undergo structural safety calculations based on the loads they are designed to bear, and seismic supports and hangers must undergo seismic verification calculations.

Requirements for structural safety calculations of finished support and hanger systems: The partial factor for structural loads shall not be less than 1.4. The structural safety level is Class I, with a corresponding importance factor of 1.1. Sufficient consideration must also be given to construction and installation loads.

The pipe support and hanger system consists of C-shaped or U-shaped channel steel (hereinafter referred to as “channel steel”), channel steel bases, push-button locks or “spring nuts plus hex bolts,” pipe clamps or pipe bundles, connectors, anchor bolts, and other components. The connectors, paired with the push-button locks or “spring nuts plus hex bolts,” enable flexible adjustment of the pipe support’s dimensions and height through mechanical connections. The system is securely anchored to the existing concrete structure via anchor bolts. All component parts and profiles are prefabricated in the factory and assembled according to on-site dimensions; welding on-site is strictly prohibited.

Finally, the dimensions of the channel steel sections include 41mm × 21mm, 41mm × 41mm, 41mm × 62mm (increased size), and others. The standard profiles have lengths of either 3000mm or 6000mm, facilitating future pipeline installation, maintenance, and expansion. The channel steel is manufactured as a cold-rolled standard profile with a wall thickness of no less than 2.0mm, ensuring its load-bearing performance and accompanied by corresponding mechanical test reports. The inner edges of the channel steel must feature teeth with a depth of no less than 0.9 millimeters. All components must be installed via mechanical interlocking; any installation method relying solely on friction between components to bear loads is strictly prohibited, thereby guaranteeing a reliable connection throughout the entire system. After the complete installation of the pipe support and hanger system, it must exhibit safe seismic resistance—(the term "impact resistance" has been removed)—and anti-sliding performance. Furthermore, a seismic resistance report detailing the system’s designed seismic intensity level (based on local regulations) must be provided. For double-channel steel assemblies, reliable welding or riveting methods must be employed (laser welding or mechanical riveting has been removed; through-type spot welding is also prohibited), ensuring the overall load transfer reliability and long-term performance of the double-channel steel assembly.
