Instrument Overview
The OiW-200 Water Oil Analyzer is a smart instrument consisting of a compact probe and transmitter. It employs the ultraviolet fluorescence principle to measure benzene-based compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and refined oil components. This probe features a robust solid-state design, making it suitable for use in corrosive and high-pressure environments.
The underwater oil probe can be used in a wide variety of applications, including wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, environmental monitoring, and process detection. This probe can either be suspended directly in the water or installed within AAI’s proprietary flow cell.
The transmitter features a compact design and is used to receive signals from oil probes submerged in water. The transmitter processes these signals to calculate and output measurement data. Additionally, the transmitter can convert the measurement data into a 4–20 mA analog output or transmit it via RS232, RS485, or Profibus. Measurement data can be saved using a built-in SD memory card. This transmitter provides four relay outputs, two of which can be configured for concentration alarm functions. The entire transmitter is controlled via a touch screen.

Measurement principle
When light of a specific wavelength shines on oil droplets, the droplets absorb some of the light and then re-emit light at a different wavelength. This is known as the fluorescence process. The OiW-200 process analyzer measures the concentration of oil in water by monitoring the intensity of fluorescence.
The sensor inside the OiW-200 emits light around 280 nm. Oil particles in the sample absorb a portion of this light and reemit light in the wavelength range from 300 nm to 400 nm. These emitted photons are detected by a sensor, and the intensity of the emitted light is correlated with the oil content. Each type of oil has a unique fluorescence spectrum. The OiW-200 process analyzer is suitable for measuring refined oils, benzene and benzene derivatives, as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water.

Installation method
The oil-in-water probe can either be suspended directly in the water or installed inside AAI’s specially designed flow cell.
