OMA Sulfur Dioxide SO2 Online Analysis
Using the principle of ultraviolet absorption to measure sulfur dioxide, all-spectrum absorption technology can effectively shield against other interfering substances, providing a reliable guarantee for the precise measurement of sulfur dioxide. The all-solid-state design, with no moving parts and a long-life pulsed xenon lamp source, ensures long-term measurement stability while eliminating the hassle of frequent spare-part replacements and the need to maintain an extensive inventory of spare parts.

Monitoring Principle
The OMA-300 sulfur dioxide online analyzer uses the ultraviolet absorption principle to determine the concentration of sulfur dioxide in a sample. The OMA-300 measures the absorbance of the sample over a wavelength range from 200 nm to 800 nm, and an array diode detector converts the optical data into signals that are sent to a processor for data analysis, yielding a high-resolution absorption spectrum.
Optical structure
The pulsed xenon lamp source emits an optical signal, which is transmitted via optical fiber to a flow cell where it comes into contact with the gas being measured. The signal then exits through another optical fiber and enters the spectrometer’s detector for data processing.
Sulfur Dioxide Absorbance Spectrum Chart
To detect the concentration of sulfur dioxide, OMA identifies the unique absorption spectrum of pure sulfur dioxide and uses mathematical methods to separate and isolate the sulfur dioxide absorption spectrum from that of the sample being measured. Based on Beer-Lambert’s law, OMA correlates the distinctive sulfur dioxide absorption spectrum with the actual sulfur dioxide concentration.
Instrument structure
The OMA-300 features an all-solid-state design with no moving parts and no consumables. Its key components include an HMI industrial PC and a NOVA second-generation spectrometer. The HMI industrial PC is equipped with an 8-inch LCD touch screen and runs on the Windows operating system, providing convenient operation for service personnel.
User interface
AAI’s proprietary ECLIPSE software processes the acquired spectral data into actual concentration readings. On the touchscreen controller, the analyzer operator can easily switch between different interfaces—such as trend graphs, spectra plots, concentration readings, and more—and can independently and at any time set and adjust alarms, outputs, purge functions, zeroing, and other parameters.
Safety performance
Most analyzers directly introduce the sample into the analyzer’s housing for measurement. However, if the sample is toxic, highly corrosive, or explosive, this could be extremely dangerous. The OMA design is unique: instead of introducing the sample into our analyzer, we guide the optical signal into the sample itself. The sample flows only through a flow cell and never comes into contact with the analyzer. The flow cell is connected to the analyzer via an optical fiber cable.
Installation method
OMA products of various models share the same electronic architecture, and their monitoring functions and performance are identical. The differences among these models lie in their external structural designs and the materials used, with the aim of meeting the diverse requirements of different applications.
